Zoë's New Friend

Yay!

Ian & Meg & Nicco came to visit!

Ian is a good storyteller!

Isn’t Nicco a cutie? He is a little older than Zoë!

Nicco has a sister names Aristea; she is Zoë's friend too!

Something is very interesting!

Also here!

Zoë has some diaper cream!

“What’s that for?” asks Ian.

Hmmm.

“Washing!” says Zoë.

(This is her sign for cleaning/washing: rubbing herself like you do with a bar of soap in the bath.)

Zoë likes to play with her friends.

She also likes to play with Daddy and Mommy!

What does Fergus think?

Woof!

Meg likes to take pictures!

Yay!

The Moon

Zoë really likes the moon.

Last night, the moon was large and bright, and a strong wind was moving clouds across the sky. We stood out in the front yard and looked at the moon. Zoë pointed: “eh!”

The moon would disappear behind the clouds and then reappear, sometimes just for a few seconds, sometimes a minute or two. We waved – "Hi, moon!" "Bye-bye moon!"

Then we went inside because it was a little chilly. But Zoë wanted to go back outside to see the moon again. She’s making little sentences now with her sign language: help-daddy-outside-moon, she said. So daddy took her outside to look at the moon again.

When we came back inside, Zoë picked up one of her little dogs and made it clear that the little dog wanted to see the moon —- so back outside we went.

Once inside again, Zoë explained that Scratch the Monkey and Polly the Polar Bear wanted to see the moon too! Out on the porch, Scratch and Polly danced and waved -- "Hi, moon!" "Bye-bye moon!"

This morning, Zoë went over to the window and pointed up in the sky: moon!

"Yeah, you saw the moon last night," Mommy said.

Zoë started to blink and squint a little, and at first we thought she had something in her eye – then we realized she had made up a new sign-word: bright. Moon-bright, she said. "We saw the moon last night and it was really bright!"

Nancy took some beautiful pictures of Zoë looking out the door!
