Picnic!
Little Zoë is getting so clever!

These days, she:
On Saturday, we got in the car to run some errands.

Here are Rosie and Zoë buying some new shoes for Zoë (there's a picture of them later – can you find it?) and a belt for Rosie.

Later, we went on a picnic.

Saturday is Daddy's favorite!

Mommy and Zoë's too!
Zoë likes melon!

Mommy had a salad!

It was a beautiful day.

One of the rules of picnics is that it's ok to climb on the table.

Zoë like hummus with raisins mixed in!

Yay!

Do you know who else likes a picnic?

Who else?

(That's Daddy-Bear!)
Zoë gave Fergus some water.

Then Fergus wanted a little nap…

Let's play instead!

Yay!

Wait! What's that?

Squirrel!

Up in the tree!

Yay!

Here are some pictures of Zoë doing some of her signs:

"fell down"; "music"; "play"
Play with water – Zoë's favorite!

She is a little scientist!

Very serious work here.

"more!"

Yay!

Picnics are the best!

…and here are some pictures Daddy took on Sunday when Zoë was having a good time not getting in her car seat:

BTW, are the pictures loading faster? Daddy made the files smaller!

These days, she:
1) is very interested in everyone's "big" names (first, middle, last) and their "small" names (just first); she is also working on saying her own name, which usually kind of sounds like "alla-alla-alla" or maybe "soh-ahh" sometimes.
2) is very good about asking for Mommy or Daddy's hand if she wants to cross the street or go into a parking lot;
3) is working on a lot of other good safety practices, like how to close a drawer without pinching your finger or why not to run with a block in your mouth;
4) likes to practice her "gentle touch" on Fergus – no pinching! Sometimes she forgets or wants to see what will happen if she pinches… "Gentle touch" is also good on Mommy and Daddy and Zoë, although sometimes it is interesting to pinch yourself! You can pinch the couch! Sometimes you might do "gentle touch" on a nice rock you found because it is something you like!
5) has a bunch of new signs and words – "ball" ("ba-ba") is the latest!
6) mostly can communicate everything she needs or wants, like "daddy-pick-me-up-outside-car-eat," which means "Let's got to the co-op for dinner!"
7) can tell the difference between a big plane, a little plane, and a helicopter just by the sound! (The sign for airplane is pointing straight up; the sign for helicopter is a little twisty motion with one hand on top of the other.)
8) likes to hear a story about what she did that day before she goes to sleep.
